Long Island cop shot during traffic stop
A Long Island cop who was shot during a traffic stop sported a bandage on his neck and a smile on his face when he was released from the hospital Sunday.
Officer Mark Collins was met by a wall of blue giving him salutes as he was wheeled from Stony Brook University Hospital wearing sweats and sneakers.
The 12-year Suffolk County Police Department vet was attacked by a gunman who opened fire on Collins after he fled a traffic stop in Huntington Station minutes before midnight Wednesday.
Sheldon Leftenant, 22, was charged with attempted aggravated murder.
