Nicholas Delvillar, Franklin Mercedes, and Jhosua Peralta, residents of New York City, were arrested for stealing over 6,750 checks and other valuables from USPS collection boxes across Suffolk County using a makeshift "fishing" device. They allegedly traveled from the Bronx to commit the thefts, which involved attaching sticky glue traps to extract mail. Law enforcement seized over $4.8 million worth of checks, a firearm, and cash. They face charges of grand larceny and are scheduled for court appearances in July, with potential prison sentences of up to 7 years if convicted.
