Today, we honor the life and legacy of Officer John Venus, who tragically passed away on this day in 1994. While on patrol in Central Islip, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Although he survived the crash, Officer Venus experienced breathing complications on November 15th while off duty, leading to his hospitalization. On November 20th, he passed away from a pulmonary embolism caused by the earlier trauma. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they continue to mourn his loss.
