A 33-year-old man from Copiague has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for the rape of his 9-year-old stepdaughter. Following his guilty plea in September 2024 for First-Degree Rape, he will also face 20 years of post-release supervision and is required to register as a sex offender.
The abuse occurred in February 2023 while the victim's mother was at work. The child reported the abuse to her mother the next day, leading to the defendant's arrest after an investigation by the police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Dana Castaldo, and the investigation was carried out by Detective Charles Ross of the Special Victims Section. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney emphasized the importance of justice for the victim and the safety of children in the community.
