Brian Cordovano, a 50-year-old man from Ronkonkoma, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the double homicide of Ian Saalfield and Robert Julian in April 2022. Cordovano pleaded guilty on October 9, 2024, to multiple charges, including two counts of Manslaughter in the First Degree and three counts of Robbery in the First Degree.
The case began when Saalfield was reported missing after last being seen with Cordovano. His vehicle was later found abandoned, and Cordovano was discovered at a motel suffering from an overdose. Investigations linked a vehicle registered to Robert Julian to the case, leading police to discover the bodies of both victims, each shot in the head.
On November 20, 2024, Cordovano was sentenced by County Court Judge Stephen L. Braslow. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney stated that the sentence serves to ensure Cordovano cannot harm others, bringing some closure to the victims' families. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Frank Schroeder, with the investigation led by Detective Michael Repperger.
