Jordan Behling, a 23-year-old resident of Wheatley Heights, has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including Robbery in the First Degree, following a violent incident linked to a Facebook Marketplace scam. On June 16, 2023, Behling attempted to sell a PlayStation 5 to a victim who handed him $280 in cash. Instead of completing the transaction, Behling drove off with the money while the victim was still partially hanging out of the car window. During his reckless escape, he sideswiped a parked car, which caused the victim to be thrown from the vehicle. The victim sustained serious injuries, including a shattered pelvis, and required multiple surgeries.
Behling had previously committed similar thefts involving other victims looking to buy PlayStation 5 consoles through Facebook Marketplace. He is set for sentencing on February 13, 2025, and is expected to face five years in prison. The case highlights the dangers of online transactions and emphasizes the prosecution's commitment to addressing theft and violent crimes in Suffolk County.
