Feb 06, 2025

Emilio Hernandez, a 54-year-old man from Bay Shore, was convicted of Robbery in the Second Degree and related charges following a jury trial for robbing a laundromat in April 2023. The Suffolk County District Attorney, Raymond A. Tierney, highlighted Hernandez's extensive criminal history, which includes multiple previous convictions for robbery.

On April 11, 2023, Hernandez, armed with a starter pistol and disguised with a hat, mask, and sunglasses, robbed a laundromat before fleeing in a black Honda. He was apprehended shortly after by police, who found cash, the disguising clothing, and gloves in his vehicle.

Hernandez's conviction includes a Class C violent felony for the robbery, with sentencing scheduled for March 12, 2025, where he faces up to 15 years in prison. His past convictions include various robbery-related offenses leading to significant prison sentences. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys James J. O’Rourke, IV and Alexander D. Sylvan, with contributions from the Suffolk County Police Department.
