A 33-year-old man from Huntington Station has been convicted by a jury of serious charges, including Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, after abusing his girlfriend's two-year-old daughter, resulting in life-threatening injuries. The incidents occurred while he was babysitting the child between February 17 and 19, 2024. When her mother returned home on February 18, she noticed severe bruises on the child and took her to the hospital the next day, where it was determined the child was in critical condition and required emergency surgery for blunt force trauma to her intestine.
The jury's verdict was delivered on February 28, 2025, and the defendant faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when sentenced on April 10, 2025. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Katherine Flinchum and Kirsten Reilly, with an investigation led by Detective Christopher Albanese of the Suffolk County Police Department's Special Victims Section.
