The Suffolk County PBA extends our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and brothers and sisters of the Christian County Sheriff’s Office following the heartbreaking line-of-duty deaths of Deputy Sheriff Gabriel Ramirez and Deputy Sheriff Michael Hislope.

Deputy Ramirez was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop on State Highway 160 and Route HH near Highlandville. The suspect fled, sparking a manhunt that ended near Reeds Spring. As officers closed in, the suspect opened fire again, killing Deputy Hislope and wounding two additional deputies. The suspect was ultimately killed in return fire.

Deputy Hislope, a United States Army veteran, served with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office for more than six years. Deputy Ramirez, also a United States Army veteran, had served with the agency for nearly one year.

Two heroes. Two veterans. Two public servants who answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice.

We stand with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and all those affected by this tragedy. May their service and sacrifice never be forgotten.
