MOUNT SINAI MAN INDICTED FOR DRAGGING A WOMAN THROUGH A PARKING LOT, STEALING HER PURSE, AND THEN FLEEING FROM POLICE

Mark Callahan, 53, of Mount Sinai, was indicted for robbing a woman in a shopping center parking lot and fleeing from police at high speeds. During the pursuit, Callahan crashed his vehicle and stabbed himself 11 times in the abdomen when approached by officers. He was arraigned on charges of second-degree robbery and unlawful fleeing and is held on bail. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
