Kayla Alvarenga, a 23-year-old from Bay Shore, was convicted of first-degree murder for orchestrating the kidnapping and killing of Linver Ortiz Ponce, who was shot after parking in front of her home. Alvarenga used minors and co-defendants to carry out the crime, which occurred on September 17, 2022. The victim was abducted, beaten, and shot multiple times by Alvarenga's orders.
