Wilmer Castillo Garcia, a 22-year-old Guatemalan national, was arrested near the Canadian border while attempting to flee the U.S. after being released without bail on charges related to drug sales and endangering minors. The investigation revealed he sold THC gummies linked to hospitalization of middle school students and narcotics to an undercover officer. He was indicted on multiple drug charges in August 2025 but was released due to New York’s non-bail laws. In October 2025, he was apprehended by Canadian authorities and transferred to ICE for removal proceedings.
