Three women from Bayport—Emily Kelly, her mother Barbara Renner, and Kelly’s daughter Elyssa Seymore—were indicted in connection with the death of seven-year-old Jor’Dynn Duncan. Kelly, who had custody of the child, allegedly documented prolonged abuse and torture that contributed to her death from untreated injuries and infection. The child’s injuries included about 90 wounds, and she missed numerous days of school, with Kelly reportedly fabricating reasons for her absences. Kelly faces charges including murder, reckless endangerment, and unlawful imprisonment, with potential life in prison. Her mother and daughter are also charged with related offenses and are being held on bail. The case highlights allegations of systematic cruelty over several months.
