WEST BABYLON MAN INDICTED FOR ROBBERY AND MURDER OF 65-YEAR-OLD AMPUTEE

Jason Butt-Champagne, 25, of West Babylon, was indicted for the robbery and murder of 65-year-old Donald Klune. He allegedly pulled Klune from his vehicle, beat him, and fled in the victim’s car, which led to Klune’s death from blunt force injuries. Butt-Champagne was arrested in May 2026 and faces charges including second-degree murder and first-degree robbery. He is remanded and scheduled for court in June, with potential life imprisonment if convicted.
