DEER PARK MAN CONVICTED OF MURDER IN THE SECOND DEGREE FOR NAIL SALON CRASH THAT KILLED FOUR PEOPLE

Steven Schwally, a 64-year-old from Deer Park, was convicted of second-degree murder after crashing his vehicle into a nail salon in 2024, killing four people and injuring nine others. He was intoxicated at the time, with a blood alcohol level of .17, and driving at high speed through a parking lot before smashing into the salon. The crash caused extensive destruction, and victims included customers and employees. Schwally faces up to life in prison and is scheduled for sentencing in August 2026.
