FORMER SUFFOLK COUNTY EMPLOYEE SENTENCED TO 1-1/2 TO 3 YEARS IN PRISON FOR RECEIVING BRIBES

Brianna Hassett, a former Suffolk County employee, was sentenced to 1.5 to 3 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempting to accept bribes and falsifying license applications while working for the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Consumer Affairs. She admitted to accepting bribes and providing exam questions in exchange for cash, collaborating with her husband, who was not a county employee. Hassett resigned in May 2025, and her husband received a probation sentence. The case was prosecuted by the Suffolk County DA’s office.
