CENTRAL ISLIP MAN SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON FOR FATALLY SHOOTING MAN DURING 2022 ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

Erick Garcia of Central Islip was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to fatally shooting 19-year-old Carlos Guillen during an attempted robbery in 2022. Garcia arranged the meeting, brought a gun, and shot Guillen in the neck at close range when the victim tried to drive away. Garcia fled to Florida after the shooting but was later arrested in Central Islip. He also pleaded guilty to possessing an unserialized loaded firearm. The sentences will run concurrently, and Garcia will serve at least 25 years before being eligible for release.
