MASTIC BEACH MAN INDICTED FOR RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT AND DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED AFTER ALLEGED HIGH-SPEED CHASE FROM DEPUTIES

Vladimir Alonzo, a 23-year-old from Mastic Beach, was indicted for reckless endangerment and related charges after a dangerous 15-mile high-speed chase in June 2026. During the pursuit, Alonzo allegedly drove over 100 mph, ran red lights, struck multiple vehicles and property, and caused a minivan to overturn, injuring two people. He fled from deputies, driving through yards and crashing into a CVS store before being arrested at the scene with open alcohol containers. Due to New York’s bail laws, he was released without bail. The case highlights the reckless and dangerous nature of the pursuit, with no injuries resulting in fatalities but significant risk to public safety.
