Rodolfo Alvarez, a 35-year-old from Central Islip, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder and assaulting his wife in May 2024. He stabbed and strangled her while she was sleeping, and later, in September 2024, he caused a car accident while driving intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .22—more than twice the legal limit—fleeing the scene on foot. Alvarez has multiple prior convictions for DWI, reckless endangerment, and other crimes. His sentence includes five years of post-release supervision.
