Murder of Detective Dennis J. Wustenhoff

On February 15, 1990, Detective Dennis J. Wustenhoff exited his home in Patchogue and entered his undercover police. When he started his vehicle, an explosive device placed under his car detonated. Detective Wustenhoff suffered massive injuries as a result of the explosion and was transported by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
