The Suffolk County PBA mourns the line-of-duty death of Columbia Police Officer Christopher DeLong Jr., who was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance.
Officer DeLong had initially responded to a report of property damage stemming from a domestic dispute. After leaving the original call, he located a subject and vehicle matching the reported description and requested backup. When additional officers arrived, Officer DeLong and another officer had been shot. Officer DeLong tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Officer DeLong had served with the Columbia Police Department for nearly two years and leaves behind his wife and two children.
We extend our deepest condolences to Officer DeLong’s family, friends, fellow officers, and the entire Columbia Police Department. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
