Sep 08, 2026

The Suffolk County PBA joins the law enforcement community in mourning the loss of Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Sheriff Terrian Bailey, who was shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a disturbance near a convenience store off Highway 18 in Hermanville.

Shortly after midnight, Deputy Bailey was working to disperse a crowd that had gathered following a festival when gunfire erupted. Deputy Bailey and a civilian bystander were both struck and transported to a nearby hospital. Deputy Bailey tragically succumbed to his wounds later that morning. The shooting remains under investigation, and the suspect remains at large.

Deputy Bailey faithfully served with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department for six years. He leaves behind his wife and four children.

We extend our deepest condolences to Deputy Bailey’s family, friends, fellow deputies, and the entire Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.
