Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
On this solemn anniversary, the Suffolk County PBA remembers the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken that day, including 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, 343 FDNY firefighters, and every first responder who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to help others.
We also honor the countless first responders who worked at Ground Zero and in the months that followed, and all those who have since lost their lives to 9/11-related illnesses, including members of our own law enforcement family. Their courage, service, and sacrifice remain an enduring part of the legacy of September 11.
Twenty-five years later, we continue to stand with the families of the fallen, our brothers and sisters in law enforcement, and all those who still carry the weight of that day.
We honor them. We remember them. We will never forget.
