BRENTWOOD MAN INDICTED FOR ROBBING MULTIPLE CONVENIENCE STORES AND GAS STATIONS ACROSS SUFFOLK COUNTY
May 30, 2023
Johnathan Moore Allegedly Grabbed the Cash Registers Before Fleeing Each Location (SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced the indictment of Johnathan Moore, 34, of Brentwood, who is accused of a series of convenience store and gas station robberies that occurred in Suffolk County over an approximate three-week span, ending in May 2023. “This defendant was allegedly entering convenience stores and gas stations and brazenly grabbing the cash registers,” said District Attorney Tierney. “Thankfully, he has been caught so he can no longer terrorize local businesses in Suffolk County.” According to the investigation, between April 14, 2023 and May 7, 2023, Moore allegedly entered several convenience stores and gas stations, and approached the cash register with items of nominal value. Moore would then ask the store clerks for an item that was for sale behind the counter. Once the store clerks went to retrieve the item, Moore would forcefully rip the cash registers out, and flee the scene. During one of the incidents, Moore allegedly punched a female clerk in the face before running away with the cash register. 2 After interviewing numerous witnesses and collecting surveillance videos from the incident locations, members of the Suffolk County Police Department arrested Moore on May 11, 2023. Moore was subsequently indicted for robbing the following locations: ? 7-Eleven in Islip on April 14, 2023; ? 7-Eleven in Lindenhurst on April 21, 2023; and ? Bolla Market in Brentwood on May 7, 2023. On May 24, 2023 Moore was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Timothy P. Mazzei, for the charges of: ? Two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class C violent felony; ? Two counts of Robbery in the Third Degree; a Class D felony; and ? One count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a Class E felony. Judge Mazzei ordered Moore to be held on $250,000 cash, $500,000 bond, or $2,500,000 partially secured bond. Moore is due back in court on June 13, 2023, and is being represented by Scott Zerner, Esq. Moore also has pending criminal charges for another robbery that occurred at a BP Gas Station in Bay Shore on March 29, 2023. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kieran R. Rogers of the Major Crime Bureau, with investigative assistance from Suffolk County Police Department Detectives John Dunleavy, Robert Escalona, Delilah Bustamante, and Dennis O’Donnell.
