Philomena Mistretta, a 51-year-old woman from Coram, New York, has been indicted for attempted murder and related charges after allegedly running over a 63-year-old woman with her car following a dispute in a Bellport parking lot. The incident occurred on October 26, 2024, after a verbal and physical altercation. Mistretta allegedly returned to her vehicle, backed it up, and deliberately struck the victim, dragging her for a short distance. The victim sustained lacerations to her skull and was taken to the hospital, while Mistretta was arrested at the scene.
Mistretta faces multiple charges, including Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, and Assault in the Second Degree, and she could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count. She was arraigned on November 7, 2024, and is being held on bail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 10, 2024. The case is being prosecuted by assistant district attorneys from the Major Crime Bureau, following an investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department.
