Giampiero Cali, a 48-year-old from Farmingville, was convicted for felony environmental crimes
Dec 11, 2024

Giampiero Cali, a 48-year-old from Farmingville, was convicted for felony environmental crimes after admitting to dumping hazardous materials from a Brooklyn demolition site in Suffolk County. On December 5, 2024, he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including Endangering the Public Health, Safety, or the Environment and Falsifying Business Records.

Cali, who is associated with Truck Tec Material Corporation, was found to have falsely claimed that the hazardous construction debris was "clean fill" to facilitate unlawful disposal at CMM Landscape Supply in Yaphank. His actions followed a previous corporate plea agreement for improper waste disposal by Truck Tec. Investigators intercepted Cali’s truck before he could dump the contaminated materials, which contained cobalt, an acutely hazardous substance.

As part of his sentencing, Cali must pay $50,000 in fines, complete 840 hours of community service focused on environmental issues, and serve five years of probation. If he fails to finish the community service within six months, he will face six months in jail. Additionally, his commercial dump truck was forfeited to Suffolk County. The case was managed by the District Attorney’s Biological, Environmental, and Animal Safety Team, emphasizing the commitment to maintaining a safe environment in Suffolk County.
