A 56-year-old man from Islip, Suffolk County, has been convicted of sexually abusing his daughter starting when she was 15 years old. The jury found him guilty of two counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The abuse was reported by the victim to a teacher in February 2023, after which law enforcement conducted an investigation that included DNA analysis confirming the suspect's presence during an incident. The defendant faces up to 14 years in prison at sentencing scheduled for January 13, 2025, and will be required to register as a sex offender. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Melissa Grier and Johanna Poremba, with the investigation led by Detective Lisa Hofelich.
