THREE MEN INDICTED FOR MURDER OF CENTRAL ISLIP MAN
Mar 24, 2025

Three individuals have been indicted for the murder of Candido Guadalupe Saravia Martinez, a 39-year-old Salvadoran national, who was found dead in Central Islip, New York, on February 18, 2025. The accused are Brayan Heredia Escobar (19), Jhon Lopez Campos (18), both undocumented immigrants, and Julio Beltran (39) from El Salvador. They face charges of second-degree murder following a brutal attack involving beating, strangulation, and stabbing.

Police discovered Saravia Martinez's body in a tent, showing clear signs of violence, including ligature marks on his neck and blunt force trauma to his face. A machete and a blood-covered knife were found near his body. Surveillance footage allegedly captured the defendants fleeing the scene shortly after the murder.

The defendants were arraigned in March 2025 and are facing life sentences if convicted. They are currently remanded in custody pending their next court appearances. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michelle Chiuchiolo, with an investigation led by Detective Matthew Sagistano. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
