A 32-year-old man from Bay Shore, New York, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexually abusing a young victim over a span of more than a decade. The defendant pleaded guilty in March to multiple charges, including Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree and various counts of rape. The abuse began when the victim was just 6 years old and continued until she was 16, resulting in her becoming pregnant at 15. DNA testing confirmed paternity. The defendant, who has been certified as a sex offender, will face 10 years of post-release supervision after serving his sentence. The case was handled by Assistant District Attorney Katherine Flinchum, with an investigation led by Detective Jacob Alerte from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Special Victims Section.
