Nikeya Barker, a 44-year-old woman from Bay Shore, has been indicted for second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing her former partner, Shurvell Rush, to death. The incident occurred on May 3, 2025, in a parking lot in Bay Shore, where police found Rush with a fatal chest wound. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Barker with a large knife, following Rush into the parking lot, discarding the weapon nearby, and fleeing the scene. Barker had previously dated Rush and reportedly confronted him about an issue from their past before the stabbing. She surrendered to police on May 6 and was arraigned on May 19, facing a potential sentence of 25 years to life if convicted. She is currently remanded without bail, with a court date set for July 2, 2025.
