FORMER GREAT NECK ATTORNEY INDICTED FOR STEALING FUNDS FROM REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION

Marco Materassi, 58, a former attorney from Great Neck, was indicted for stealing $30,000 from an escrow account related to a real estate transaction in 2024. The funds were to be refunded to a buyer after the termination of a home sale contract, but Materassi allegedly did not respond and kept the money, using it for personal and unrelated expenses. He was arraigned on grand larceny charges and released without bail. If convicted, he faces 2 1/3 to 7 years in prison. The case is being prosecuted by the Suffolk County DA’s Office.
