UNLICENSED CONTRACTOR CHARGED FOR CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A FORGED INSTRUMENT

Robert Cortese, 37, of Huntington, was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument after allegedly presenting a fake building permit to a homeowner in 2021 for a pool and pool house construction project. Cortese, owner of Tool Time Construction, Inc., did not have a valid license to operate as a contractor in Suffolk County. The homeowner later discovered the permit was fraudulent and that no permits had been filed for the project. Cortese surrendered to authorities and was arraigned on the felony charge. He faces up to 7 years in prison if convicted and is scheduled to return to court in August 2025.
