BRENTWOOD MAN INDICTED FOR MURDER

Alex Reyes, 21, of Brentwood, has been indicted for Second-Degree Murder for allegedly killing 46-year-old Alexander Velasquez. On June 22, 2025, Reyes and others reportedly attacked Velasquez and then intentionally drove over him with his BMW, causing fatal injuries. Reyes fled the scene but was apprehended the next day. He was arraigned on July 3, 2025, and is remanded without bail. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison. The case is being prosecuted by Suffolk County DA's Office, with ongoing investigation by police homicide detectives.
