Jerry McKoy, 58, of Patchogue, was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison after being convicted of shooting into a house in Mastic Beach in April 2024. The incident occurred during an argument over money, when McKoy fired two shots into a home occupied by an elderly couple, who were unharmed. McKoy, a repeat violent offender with previous convictions for assault and burglary, was apprehended in July 2024. He was convicted in May 2025 of weapons possession and reckless endangerment and sentenced in July 2025. The case underscores efforts to hold violent offenders accountable in Suffolk County.
