MASTIC BEACH MAN INDICTED FOR BOATING WHILE INTOXICATED WITH YOUNG CHILDREN ABOARD

Edward Hillkewicz, 28, of Mastic Beach, was indicted for operating a boat while intoxicated with a child under 15 and causing a crash in the Shinnecock Canal on May 25, 2025. The vessel, carrying two children and three adults, collided with a jetty, resulting in serious injuries to his fiancé, who required multiple surgeries and has limited movement. Hillkewicz faces multiple charges, including assault and reckless operation, and is scheduled for court in September 2025. He was placed on supervised release and his vessel license was suspended.
