BARBADOS NATIONAL RECEIVES COMBINED SENTENCE OF 13 TO 29 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SEX TRAFFICKING AND DRUG POSSESSION

Michael Howell, a 65-year-old from Barbados residing in Brooklyn, was convicted of sex trafficking, drug possession, and violence against a victim he coerced into sex acts for profit. He was sentenced to 13 to 29 years in prison and will register as a sex offender. Howell used drugs and physical violence to control the victim, whom he forced to engage in sexual activities and advertised online. He was also found in possession of fentanyl and cocaine at his arrest. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security plans to pursue his deportation after serving his sentence.
