MIDDLE ISLAND MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON FOR THE ATTEMPTED MURDER OF TWO POLICE OFFICERS

Brandon Scanlon, 34, of Middle Island, was sentenced to 20 years in prison plus 5 years of supervision after pleading guilty to attempted second-degree murder and related charges for firing at police officers during a vehicle chase in 2024. The investigation revealed that Scanlon used a stash house to store drugs and fled from law enforcement after striking an officer with his vehicle. He fired multiple shots at officers during the pursuit, which ended with his crash and arrest. Scanlon also possessed illegal weapons and controlled substances.
