Michael Goonan, 63, of Commack, pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny for stealing over $600,000 from his elderly parents between 2018 and 2019. The money, intended for his mother’s nursing home expenses, was used for personal costs like mortgage and college tuition. Goonan surrendered to authorities in January 2025 and faces 2 to 6 years in prison if he does not pay $300,000 in restitution before sentencing.
