Suffolk County indicted 14 individuals, led by Andricson Jerez, for operating a sophisticated "porch pirate" ring that stole FedEx packages containing electronics across Suffolk County over two years. The organization used insider tracking data to target shipments, with members stealing packages from homes and businesses from North Babylon to Montauk. The stolen devices were sold through fencing locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. Several defendants face multiple felony charges, including enterprise corruption and grand larceny, with some also charged with violence and deception. Law enforcement executed search warrants resulting in the recovery of stolen goods and cash. The defendants face potential decades in prison if convicted, and some are subject to federal charges and immigration detainers.
