GUATEMALAN NATIONAL SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS IN PRISON FOR RAPING 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL

Lazaro Alberto Huertasperez, a 30-year-old Guatemalan national, was sentenced to 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree rape and related charges for sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in Suffolk County. He laced her water with a substance that caused her to lose control, then carried her to his room, where she was assaulted. The victim later gave birth to his child. Huertasperez fled to Guatemala after the incident but was arrested at the U.S. border in 2024 and extradited back to face charges. He was sentenced in December 2025 and a deportation detainer has been lodged against him.
