We mourn the line-of-duty death of Deputy Constable Aaron Armstrong, who was tragically killed while attempting to make an arrest outside Club Rodeo in Austin.
At approximately 1:59 a.m., Deputy Armstrong, in uniform and clearly identified as a peace officer, was shot while attempting to arrest a disorderly subject who had fled into the parking lot. Deputy Armstrong returned fire before collapsing. As suspects fled the scene, one individual struck him with a vehicle.
Deputy Armstrong was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The shooter was apprehended and charged with capital murder, and the driver was charged with assault on a peace officer.
Deputy Armstrong served with the Caldwell County Constable’s Office for over one year and previously with the Smithville Police Department.
