Brayan Heredia Escobar, Jhon Lopez Campos, and Julio Beltran pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter for their roles in the 2025 death of homeless man Candido Guadalupe Saravia Martinez in Central Islip. The victims beat, strangled, and stabbed Saravia Martinez, who was found dead in a tent. Surveillance footage showed the defendants fleeing the scene, and they admitted to attacking him out of revenge from a prior altercation. Each defendant faces significant prison sentences, with Lopez Campos potentially getting 25 years, Heredia Escobar 20 years, and Beltran 22 years. They are scheduled for sentencing in late February 2026.
