The Suffolk PBA would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Officer Jesse Wenk for his quick thinking and outstanding actions on the afternoon of Wednesday. The expectant mother was en route to the hospital in labor, but the baby didn't want to wait any longer and decided to make her grand entrance into the world in the family car on the side of the road, just west of exit 50 on westbound Sunrise Highway. Officer Wenk arrived on scene immediately after the birth and offered aid to the newborn and her mother. He wrapped the baby in a jacket and maintained her vital signs until the Holbrook Fire Department Ambulance arrived on scene and took over. Your presence and care for both the mother and child during this unexpected delivery was truly amazing. Congratulations to the happy family on the arrival of their new baby.
