The Suffolk PBA had the privilege of attending the annual Suffolk County Heroes Breakfast at the American Air Power Museum, where they recognized Kristina Moon, the wife of fallen firefighter Billy Moon, and Paws of War as recipients of the Jacob's Light Humanitarian Award.
The Billy Moon Foundation advocates for organ donation, raises awareness, and supports first responder communities, fundraising efforts, and organ donor organizations. Established in memory of Firefighter Billy Moon, who tragically passed away on December 12, 2022, after a fatal fall. Billy's legacy lives on through his final gift of organ donation, which he made possible on December 20, 2022. His wife, Kristina Moon, serves as the foundation's head, dedicating countless hours to honor her hero husband, Billy.
Paws of War honors the sacrifices of our veterans, active military members, and first responders by providing life-enriching services. Their mission is to provide a safe and loving environment for animals in need while empowering our heroes with the support and companionship they deserve. They rescue and train service dogs to assist with independence, adopt companion animals into loving homes, and rescue animals from war zones overseas. By doing so, they strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our heroes.
The Suffolk County PBA expresses gratitude to Kristina Moon and Paws of War for their tireless efforts and looks forward to supporting their cause.
