Philomena Mistretta, 51, from Coram, New York, has been indicted for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and other charges after allegedly running over a 63-year-old woman with her minivan following an altercation. The incident occurred on October 26, 2024, at a parking lot in Bellport after a verbal and physical dispute. Mistretta reportedly got back into her vehicle and drove over the victim, dragging her a short distance. The victim sustained severe injuries, including skull lacerations, and was hospitalized.
Mistretta was arrested at the scene and arraigned on November 7, 2024. The charges include Attempted Murder, Attempted Assault, and Assault, which are classified as violent felonies. She has been ordered to be held on significant bail and is set to return to court on December 10, 2024. If convicted, she could face up to 25 years in prison for the top charge. The case is being handled by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office and law enforcement.
