MASTIC MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO MANSLAUGHTER FOR FATALLY STABBING HOUSEMATE

Philip Walker, a 58-year-old man from Mastic, pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree for fatally stabbing his housemate, 63-year-old Jimmy Vaughn, three times with a knife. The incident occurred on June 30, 2023, at the Shirley Motel, where Vaughn suffered a fatal injury that pierced his heart and later died at the hospital. Following the stabbing, Walker fled but was arrested on July 2, 2023. He is expected to be sentenced to 20 years in prison on March 25, 2025. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney expressed that the conviction holds Walker accountable for the violent act that tragically took Vaughn's life.
