SELDEN MAN CONVICTED AFTER JURY TRIAL OF ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LOADED AND DEFACED FIREARM

Steven Musgrove, a 29-year-old man from Selden, was convicted by a jury of illegal possession of a loaded and defaced firearm. As a two-time felon with a history of violent crime, he faces a sentence of up to 25 years to life in prison. The incident occurred on March 22, 2024, when Musgrove entered Shakers Pub and, during a police check, hid a loaded handgun in the trash before leaving. The bartender discovered the firearm and notified police, leading to Musgrove's arrest. DNA evidence confirmed his possession of the gun. Musgrove had prior convictions for attempted robbery and firearm possession. He is scheduled for sentencing on April 29, 2025. The case was handled by Assistant District Attorneys and involved the Suffolk County Police Department and Crime Lab.
