|
A 49-year-old man from Central Islip has been found guilty of sexually abusing his stepdaughter over a period of seven years, from when she was eight until she was 15. The charges include Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree, for which he faces up to seven years in prison at his sentencing on June 2, 2025. The abuse began shortly after the family moved in together in 2017 and continued multiple times a week. The victim ultimately sought help from her mother and a friend, leading to the defendant's arrest in 2024 after a police investigation. The case was handled by Assistant District Attorneys Joseph Mallek and Zachary Kelly from the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau, with evidence presented in a jury trial overseen by Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen Wilutis.
