Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced a 168-count indictment against 22 individuals linked to the Mak Balla Family (MBF), a violent street gang affiliated with the Bloods, and associated groups 4Eva Rich and Real Ni**az Only. The long-term investigation, spanning over four years, uncovered extensive criminal activity including 17 shootings, 3 armed robberies, possession of 22 illegal firearms, and over 40 narcotic sales across Long Island since January 2021. The gang members allegedly used proceeds from drug sales and armed violence to fund their lifestyle, which they flaunted on social media.
The indictment details multiple violent incidents, including shootings involving stolen vehicles, targeted attacks on rival gangs, and armed robberies. Notable cases include shootings of rival gang members, attempted murders, and a loaded firearm recovered during a mall altercation. The gang sought to dominate rival groups such as the Bloodhound Brims through violence and intimidation, with communication often encoded to evade law enforcement detection.
Of the 22 indicted, 20 have been arrested, with 13 already arraigned; 16 are in custody, and two are at large. The case is prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Office with support from law enforcement partners, emphasizing their commitment to dismantling violent gangs and ensuring community safety. The defendants face serious charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy, robbery, and weapons possession, with potential sentences up to 25 years.
This operation reflects ongoing efforts in Suffolk County to combat gang violence through coordinated investigations and prosecutions.
