FLORIDA WOMAN AND FORMER SELDEN CHURCH BOOKKEEPER INDICTED FOR GRAND LARCENY
May 09, 2025

Stacey Hirsch, a 48-year-old woman from Florida and former bookkeeper at a church in Selden, New York, has been indicted for allegedly stealing around $80,000 from the church between June 2022 and May 2023. She is accused of writing unauthorized checks to herself and her husband, using the funds for personal expenses such as credit card bills, dining, shopping, and household costs. The theft was discovered after the church's bills went unpaid. Hirsch was fired and moved to Florida, where she was later arrested in April 2025 and extradited to Suffolk County. She was arraigned on May 2, 2025, on a second-degree grand larceny charge and was released without bail. She faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted and is scheduled to appear in court again in June 2025. The case is being prosecuted by Suffolk County authorities, emphasizing the importance of trust and accountability in community institutions.
